Genova

We went to our last, very long roadtrip.
It's so sad to think that it's our last one in Italy.
But it was definitely one of the best we ever had.

I'm so grateful we got to do it even with everything thats going on.

Our first stop was Genova!!!

Genoa (Genova) is a port city and the capital of northwest Italy's Liguria region. It's known for its central role in maritime trade over many centuries. In the old town stands the Romanesque Cathedral of San Lorenzo, with its black-and-white-striped facade and frescoed interior. Narrow lanes open onto monumental squares like Piazza de Ferrari, site of an iconic bronze fountain and Teatro Carlo Felice opera house.

Since we are only gonna be there for a few hours we decided to just drive around and mostly check out the Aquarium for the kids.

Genova is Beautiful!!

Aquarium is the best place to take kids if you're finding something for them to do.

There were sharks, all kinds of fish and everything else you could ever find in an aquarium.

The boys loved the Dolphin part.
They were playing with balls.

I'm very impressed how big is this Aquarium.

Waiting for the Dolphins.

All the Jelly fish.

We spent about few hours there.
It was actually bigger than I expected and the boys loved it.

What a good way to start our trip.

Now, off to our next destination.

We encountered some traffic and I'm glad I packed up so many snacks.
This is one of them.
Couldn't be more perfect.

Laing

Growing up in the Philippines.
I crave all the meat, fast food and all the food that is not quite healthy.
My mom got us used to eating all the veggies that is good for us.
I'm glad she did.

I never appreciated it as much as I do now.
All the Vegetable Filipino dish is what I miss the most these days.
I just can't get enough of it.

I'm so glad I got to make this in Italy.
This is probably the last dish I'll be making at this house.
Going to miss cute window view where I love taking pictures of my food.

Laing is a Filipino dish of shredded or whole taro leaves with meat or seafood cooked in thick coconut milk spiced with labuyo chili, lemongrass, garlic, shallots, ginger, and shrimp paste. It originates from the Bicol Region, where it is known simply as pinangat.

This is perfect with rice.
My American husband approves this dish.
He LOVES it!!

Let me know what you guys think!

Laing

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces dried taro leaves
  • Olive oil
  • ½ lb pork sliced into ¼ inch thick pieces
  • 5 pieces Thai chili pepper
  • 5 cloves garlic crushed
  • 2 thumbs ginger crushed
  • 1 piece onion sliced into thin strips

Lago di Braies

Have you ever been to a place so dreamy,
You just never thought it exist.

We drove down the Dolomites few weeks ago.
If there's a lake I dreamed of going, this is where it is.

The drive was so beautiful you couldn't get your eyes off the road.
It's incredible.

Lago di Braies is on my last places to go before we leave.
..And I'm so glad we did.
Oh my god.
It was breathtaking!!

Lago di Braies or Pragser Wildesee, Lake Prags is a Lake in the Prags Dolomites
in South Tyrol, Italy.

It is known as the "Pearl among Dolomite Lakes"

Lake Braies is starting point for numerous hiking tours as well as for the Dolomite High Route no. 1. The surrounding mountains offer a splendid view on the "Pearl among Dolomite lakes", considered to be the most beautiful South Tyrolean lake. If you prefer pleasant walks, you can walk round Lake Braies (4 km). And during a romantic rowing boat trip you can enjoy the beauty of the fairytale-like scenery - but only savages will dare to jump into the cool waters.
The emerald green lake has become famous in the last years by the Italian television series "Un passo dal cielo" (One step from heaven) and is nowadays a centre of tourism. In order to protect nature in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park and due to traffic jams, in high summer the street from the locality of Ferrara to the lake is closed from 10.00 am to 3 pm. A bus as well as a shuttle service starting from Monguelfo will take you to Lake Braies - alternatively the hiking path no. 1 leads from Ferrara in a 1.5-hour walk to the lake.

The Hotel by the Lake.

The temperature there is definitely colder but it felt so good.

My loves.

We did the short/easy hike and the kids did so good.

Heaven on earth.

What a beautiful day.

One Month left in Italy (Dinner in La Piola)

One. Month. Left.

I can't believe it.
It's happening.

We are leaving Italy soon.  =(

I'm going to miss everything about Italy.

But, just like everyday other day.
Ready to face new adventures.
With a smile on my face.

We are going to miss our walks to the center and having dinner there.
So today, I asked hubby if we can do that.
He is always down for it.
He loves it when we do this.

Gelato first!
It's a hot day here in Italy.
It really feels like hot summer!

We decided to try something we never had before.
So we went to La Piola.
It's right at the Center.
For some reason, we had a hard time finding it.
But when we did, we couldn't believe in 3 and half years
we never been here.

They are known for their ribs.
So we are here for that!

My favorite dinner date.

The ribs.. was good!!
Definitely not the typical bbq ribs that we are used to.
But, the flavor was on point.
It's an Italian ribs after all.
So it was its own version.

So good!

We had some Bruschetta and hubby had some Spicy ribs.
It was not that crazy spicy.
But, it has more sauce to it.

Very good!!!

There was more people there than usual.
It was nice.

It was a beautiful day for a dinner and walk.
Time to start are last few vacation trips.
Then bye bye Italy.

It's going to be the busiest month ever.
Wish us luck!
