Steak Cake

Made Hubby the best cake ever!
He's more of a savory guy,
Meat and potato kind of guy.
He told me months before his Birthday that he doesn't want
cake for his Birthday.

I told him what if I make it?
He said he would like it.

So I did it!!

Ladies and gentlemen!

A steak cake.  =)

Isn't she pretty!??

The cake is layered inside with mashed potatoes.
The aka frosting is also mashed potatoes.

The Rose bacon was cooked in the oven.
It wasn't that hard.
I made sure they had toothpicks while being cooked.

I think he loved it!

It was so good!!

I would love a cake like this for my Birthday too!!!

It's not hard to make I swear.
It does take time to make it.

I highly recommend!

Enjoy!

I made something different.

I thought the color of this will suit the occasion.

I used the same recipe of making

..And it turned out as good!
The only difference I did was I used Pandan Flavoring,
Instead of an Ube!

It is definitely a lot of process making this

Cinnamon Swirl Apple Fritter Bread

I am such in a Baking mood these days.

Now that I'm pretty much done unpacking and just doing little bit of cleaning here and then..

It's so nice to have a lot of extra time!

I still have some Apples to use so I decided to make Bread this time.
I love love Bread, It's the easiest food to eat for breakfast of just for snack.
Not everyone loves bread in the house but it still quickly get eaten.

This bread is definitely one of the easiest to make.
If you are a new Baker this is the best thing to make.

Let me know what you guys think!

Cinnamon Swirl Apple Fritter Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2/3 cup +2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup + 1 - 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray and line with parchment paper, with ends hanging over edge of pan. Spray parchment with nonstick spray.
  • Mix brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon together in a bowl; set aside. Toss apples with 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and remaining teaspoon cinnamon in another bowl; set aside.
  • Beat butter and remaining 2/3 cup granulated sugar together with mixer until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. With the mixer on medium speed, add the eggs, 1 at a time; add vanilla extract.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder and salt together in another bowl, then add to creamed butter mixture and beat until blended. Mix 1/2 cup milk into batter until smooth.
  • Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan; add half the chopped apple mixture.
  • Sprinkle half of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture on top of apple layer.
  • Pour the remaining batter over apple layer and top with remaining chopped apples, then the remaining brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.
  • Lightly pat apples into batter; swirl brown sugar mixture through apples using a knife.
  • Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean, approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. Watch bread and cover with foil during last 10 minutes of baking time to prevent overbrowning if needed.
  • Let loaf rest in pan for 15 minutes , then remove from pan using edge of parchment and place on wire rack to cool completely.

To Make Glaze

  •  Mix powdered sugar with remaining 1 to 3 tablespoons milk, thinned to desired consistency.
  • Drizzle bread with glaze.

How good does this look.
It was so good guys, I'm so glad I got to make it.

Enjoy!!

Boston Cream Poke Cake

I made a lot of Pumpkin dessert lately.
So I decided to give Pumpkin a break and make something else last weekend. :)

I've been wanting to try to make Poke Cakes.
I had it one time when I went to a house party and it was so good.
So moist! You don't need Ice cream for sure.

This cake needs to be kept refrigerated.
It taste better after it has sat in the fridge overnight.

I've been seeing a lot of  Poke Cake recipes.
I will definitely try the other ones.

Enjoy!

Boston Cream Poke Cake

Ingredients
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ingredients needed to make cake; eggs oil and water
  • 2 3.4 oz boxes instant vanilla or French vanilla pudding
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 tub chocolate frosting
Instructions
  1. Make cake mix according to directions and bake in a well-greased 9 x13 pan.
  2. When cake is finished, while still warm, poke holes all over cake (about 1-inch) intervals using a wooden spoon handle or other similar size object.
  3. You want the holes to be fairly big so that the pudding has plenty of room to get down in there.
  4. Be sure to poke right down to the bottom of the cake.
  5. In a bowl, prepare pudding.
  6. Whisk together instant pudding mix with 4 cups milk.
  7. Whisk until all the lumps are gone.
  8. Pour pudding over cake. Taking care to pour it right into the holes as much as possible.
  9. Spread it all out and using the back of the spoon, gently push pudding down into the holes.
  10. Put the cake into the fridge to set and cool (about 2 hours).
  11. Remove the lid and foil covering from the tub of chocolate frosting.
  12. Pop it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds.
  13. Stir with a spoon.
  14. It should still be a little thick but pourable - not bubbly hot.
  15. Pour chocolate frosting on top of pudding.
  16. Spread frosting evenly over cake starting in the center then spreading it towards the sides.
  17. Allow to cool on the counter for a few minutes, then put into the fridge to fully cool and set up.
